Koha will help empower patrons:
OPAC Search
Using Koha's OPAC patrons can search for material.
From the search results patrons can look up the location of the item, it's availability status and availability dates.
They can reserve or request a hold on items.
Enhanced Content
To help patrons choose items, Koha displays content like book jacket images, book reviews and abstracts from Google, Amazon, LibraryThing and others.
Koha can also make reading reccommendations and show new arrival and most popular lists.
Web 2.0
Patrons and staff can write reviews and comments that become available on the OPAC and they can create and share reading lists.
Patrons can keep tabs on new arrivals via RSS feeds as well.
Routing Lists
They can read serials items via routing lists maintained in Koha.
Purchase Suggestions
Patrons can make purchase suggestions and track the status of their suggestions.
Self Service
Self-service options are also available via the OPAC including viewing current checkouts, dues and reading history, the ability to set messaging preferences, and to update contact information.
Web or RFID based self check-out and check-in are also possible with Koha.
