Monitor Hosts

With Nagios you can monitor all types of servers - Unix, Linux or Windows.

Nagios does a ping test to determine availability of the host, if the host is down for a configurable number of tests an alert is raised.

Overview and Drill Down

Nagios can group hosts and services and alerts to show a high level overview of your IT infrastructure.

It also has status and 3D maps. Users can drill down to an individual node view as required.

Monitor Services

Nagios can monitor several types of services to see if they are available, for example http, mysql, ssh, Windows Explorer.

Again if the service is down for a configurable number of tests an alert is raised.

Notifications or Alerts

Open and closed Alerts and Notifications can be viewed Overview and other screens.

Notifications can be configured to be sent via email or pager to individuals or to other systems.

Monitor System Metrics

System load, Number of users, Partition usage, Swap Usage, Total processes and several more metrics can be monitored using Nagios.

Alerts can be raised based on high or low thresholds.

Reporting

Reports on trends, availability, alerts, notifications and events are available at node level or at host or service group levels.

Several filtering options from date range to service or host states are available.

Reports data can be viewed via charts or color coded stats views .
